Cider House Concert
17 Degrees South – 11/19/2022
We began playing together as members of our church’s worship team. During that time, we found that our taste in secular music was very similar (Connie does a great cover of Sammy Hagar’s vocals!), ranging from island/boat music to C&W to classic rock. Just for fun, we worked up a few secular covers as warmups for our worship band. Sometime in 2016 I dared Connie, who had fairly significant fear of performing in public, to join me at a local open mic night. She accepted the challenge and, with the help of some liquid courage, we performed a couple of covers. That, as they say, was all she wrote! Within a year of that first open mic we had written and recorded a full CD of original songs(“You Know You Wanna”, 2017), and we were performing all over West Michigan. The creative juices kept flowing and, a little more than a year after the release of our first CD, we completed and released a second (“1T2D2G”, 2018). We continue writing our own music and performing around West Michigan. Our favorite venues are the smaller, more intimate types where we can interact freely with the audience. It’s not uncommon for us to have one or more audience members join us when we perform one of the many “sing-along” favorites from our repertoire!
